CLAN KEITH SOCIETY USA, INC.
Announces the 2014
This award is given annually in memory of a chosen Clansmen to honor his or her service to The Clan Keith Society USA, Inc. The 2014 Scholastic Award is given in memory of Charles E. Austin, FSA Scot, life member of The Clan Keith Society USA, Inc. Charlie served the Society as Vice President, Director, and Convenor of Virginia. He was the Clansmen of the Year in 1995. In 2011, he received the first William Burnam Keith, PhD Award for Meritorious Service.
The recipient of this award must exhibit academic excellence and interest in Scottish heritage, be a member or child or grandchild of a current member of Clan Keith, and be between the ages of 15 and 25. The Scholastic Award is an unrestricted cash award of $350.00.
A three member team will select a winner from all applicants based on their current academic records and upon their interest and knowledge of their Scottish Heritage as demonstrated by a brief (1-2 typed pages) written essay. The essay may address any aspect of personal family, Clan Keith or Sept history as it relates to Scotland - past or present. The Clan Keith Society USA, Inc. will have the right to use all submitted essays for non-commercial purposes. Academic records and other personal data will be kept in confidence by the judges.
To be considered in the competition, completed APPLICATION along with one letter of recommendation from your school. Applications must be received by October 18, 2014. The winner will be announced in the Winter issue of Keith & Kin magazine.
